Designers Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby have taken the best of Vitra's engineering know-how to provide the new Mikado chair family with fantastic all-day comfort.
An ingeniously simple mechanism concealed beneath the seat allows for a slight reclining movement of the backrest. Combined with upholstery on all sides of the chair, this ensures exceptional comfort.
Available as a Side Chair or Armchair version with various fabric covers, colours and leg options. Designed with a focus on sustainability, it contains recycled materials and zero glue or staples.

This leather is sustainably produced & vegetable-tanned using olive leaves

Upholstery in polyurethane foam with a choice of upholsteries
Wooden base in solid natural oak or dark-stained oak
Aluminium base with powder-coated finish (smooth)
*Note Mikado contains a high proportion of recycled materials. The individual components – including covers – can be easily repaired or replaced by service employees, extending the chair’s lifespan. And at the end of Mikado’s service life, all the parts can be separated for recycling or correct disposal. The covers are neither glued nor stapled and even the polyurethane foam can be easily separated from the seat cushion support and back shell.
